さて、本日は「熱」に関するISMについて、お話しさせてください。体温といった意味合いではなく、「熱心」「熱狂」の「熱」に近いです。
このISMを考え始めたきっかけは「エッサッサ」と呼ばれる、日本体育大学の応援スタイルについて友人と話していた時でした。学生が半裸状態になり、全員でパフォーマンスをする、いわゆる集団行動のようなものです。友人は、そうした集団行動は好みではなく、少し苦手そうな表情をしていました。一方で著者はというと、学生時代に体育会系組織に属していたこともあり、嫌悪感よりも「一緒にやったら楽しそう」という好奇心の方が強かったのです。
なぜそうした集団行動に対して、好奇心に近いような感情を持つのかと考えた時、頭の中に「熱」という単語が浮かびました。言葉でお伝えするのは難しいので、いくつかのシチュエーションを例としてあげます。小学生時代のソーラン節、高円寺の阿波踊り、偶然開催されていた青森ねぶた祭、雪山をスノーボードで友人らと高速滑走した瞬間、屈強な男に囲まれた騎馬戦、藤井風さんのライブ、格上相手に耐え切ったサッカーの試合。伝わる人、伝わらない人がいるかと思います。もし「熱」を言い換えるのであれば、その瞬間にだけ得られる「一体感」や「達成感」が近いかもしれません。その一体感や達成感が好きだからこそ、私は嫌悪感よりも好奇心が勝つのだと思います。
私は、そうした状況下で得られる、あの「熱」が好きです。ただ身を任せるだけのような、その瞬間と空間に全身を浸らせるような、意識が集中し、他が気にならなくなり、私を没頭させてくれる「熱」です。当然、こうした「熱」を好まない人もいることは理解しています。
加えて、この「熱」には色々と種類があると考えています。例えば、お祭りやライブで得られるような「熱」と、騎馬戦や格上相手に耐え切ったサッカーの試合で得られる「熱」では少し異なる印象があります。また、例として挙げたシチュエーションは集団に関するものですが、個人での競技やパフォーマンスから得られる「熱」もあるでしょう。姿や形は違えど、それぞれの人に得られる「熱」があると思います。
呪術廻戦第18巻で、秤というキャラクターが「熱」に関する話をしています。「”熱”に浮かされて人は判断を誤る。だが”熱”がなければ人は恋一つできない。俺は”熱”を愛している。」というセリフが印象的です。「”熱”を愛する」という行為は、私からすれば立派なISMの一つなのです。
みなさんには好きな「熱」や、生活の中で得られる「熱」はありますか。上述の例からもわかる通り、私が「熱」を得られていたのは、学生時代が多かったようです。これからは、大人になってからの「熱」を探そうと思います。もしあなたが「熱」を見つけたらシェアしてください。その「熱」を私にも移してください。

Hello everyone, I hope you guys are doing great. As always, thank you for reading PEOPLISM. In PEOPLISM, apart from interviews, we regularly publish articles about the ISM. Every time I embark on these articles, I am keenly aware of how quickly time flies. People of my generation are entering their fourth or fifth year of working life. It would be fine to say that they are mid-career workers. It is one thing to aim high at your current company, another to move to a new place, and still another to start something new. Please move forward freely, unhurriedly, and heroically in whichever direction your heart desires.
Now, let me talk to you today about the ISM regarding “heat”. Not in the sense of body temperature, but more like “heat” in the sense of “enthusiasm” or “fervor”.
I started thinking about this ISM when I was talking with a friend about a cheering style called “essassa,” or the Japanese College of Physical Education. It is a kind of collective action in which students are half-naked and perform together. My friend did not like such group behavior and looked a little uncomfortable. On the other hand, the author, had belonged to an athletic organization when he was a student, and his curiosity was stronger than his aversion, as he thought it would be fun to do it together.
The word “heat” came to my mind when I thought about why I have feelings of near-curiosity toward such collective behavior. It is difficult to convey in words, so I will give a few situations as examples. “Soranbushi” in elementary school, the “Awa Odori” in Koenji, “the Aomori Nebuta Festival” that happened to be being held, the moment I was snowboarding down a snowy mountain at high speed with friends, a cavalry battle surrounded by guys, Kaze Fujii’s live performance, a football match against a superior opponent that I had to endure. I think there are people who get it and people who don’t. If I were to rephrase the word “heat,” it might be closer to the “sense of unity” or “sense of accomplishment” that you get only at that moment. I like that sense of unity and accomplishment, which is why I think my curiosity prevails over aversion.
In addition, I believe that there are many different types of this “heat”. For example, the “heat” that one gets from a festival or a live concert is a little different from the “heat” that one gets from a cavalry battle or a football match endured against a superior opponent. Also, although the situations mentioned as examples are related to groups, there may be “heat” obtained from individual competitions or performances. I believe that there is a “heat” that can be obtained by each person, although in different forms and shapes.
In the 18th volume of Jujutsu Kaisen, a character named Hakari talks about “heat”. He says, “People are swayed by ‘heat’ and make bad decisions. But without “heat,” no one can fall in love. I love “heat””. To me, the act of “loving the heat” is one of the most admirable ISM.
Do you have a favorite “heat” or a “heat” that you get in your life? As you can see from the above examples, I was able to get “heat” mostly when I was a student.
