みなさん、こんにちは。いつもPEOPLISMをご覧いただき、ありがとうございます。「如月」とも呼ばれる2月が終わりました。服を重ね着を意味する「衣更着」から転じた、というのが語源として有力だそうです。気温の変化がみられる時期、4月からの新シーズンに向けて皆さんの生活にも変化が多いかもしれませんね。日々フレッシュな気持ちを持って、皆さんが24年を歩んでいけますように。
今回は、ある本を読む中で、考えさせられた内容があったので、皆さんに共有させてください。ある意味、ismにも繋がる部分もあるかもしれません。
岡本太郎さん著「自分の中に毒を持て」を読みました。考えさせられたきっかけは冒頭の一節。”人生は積み重ねだと誰でも思っているようだ。ぼくは逆に、積みへらすべきだと思う。”という一文です。人生は積み重ね。私にとっては自然な考え方でした。正当化するつもりはないですが、世間にも浸透した考え方かと思います。しかしながら、岡本太郎さんは積みへらすべきだと。過去の蓄積にこだわると、いつの間にか堆積物に埋もれて身動きができなくなると、そうおっしゃるのです。経験を積み重ねる。知識を積み重ねる。財産を、仕事を、努力を。当然のことだと思っていました。しかし今、自分では気が付けていなかった考え方を見直すことができました。
もう1つの気になる点。著書全体を通してみられる「自分自身を敵とみなす姿勢」です。自分自身の最大の敵は自分自身だと。（字面だけだと意味が分かりづらいので、よければ一読ください。）近年のセルフケアという言葉にも見られるように、今は自分を大切にしよう、自分の最大の味方は自分だ、という思想があります。岡本太郎さんは違う。彼のように”自分を突き離せ”と言う人はなかなかいません。ふと思い出したのは漫画「宇宙兄弟」の主人公、南波 六太の”俺の敵はだいたい俺です。”というセリフ。共通しているものを感じました。
上述の内容で感じた新鮮さは、24年に入って少し落ち着いた自分を、改めて刺激してくれました。自分が当然と思っていた考え方に面と向かい、考え直してみる。自分自身を突き放してみる。考え方や在り方は答えのあるものではありません。ぜひ皆さんも一読の上、考えてみてください。ご自身のismにも繋がるかも？

Hi, everyone. As always thank you for checking PEOPLISM. February, also known as “Kisaragi” has come to an end. The origin of the word is said to have come from the word meaning layering clothes. As well as the change in climate, there may be many changes in your lives as you prepare for the new season starting in April. We wish you all a fresh start in 2024!
In this issue, We would like to share with you some of the things that we read in a book that made us think. In a way, some of it may be connected to ism.
We read the book “bring poison to yourself” written by Taro Okamoto. The passage at the beginning of the book that got me thinking. He says “Most people think life is about accumulation. But I think the opposite. It’s about minimalism.” Life is about accumulation. For us, it is a natural way of thinking. We don’t mean to justify it, but We think it is a concept that has spread throughout the world. However, Taro Okamoto says that Life is about minimalism. “The more assets and knowledge one stores inside, the more a human’s freedom is lost.” Accumulate experience. Accumulate knowledge. Accumulate wealth, work, and effort. We took it for granted. But now we have a new way of thinking that we had not realized.
There is another point of concern. It is the “attitude of regarding oneself as an enemy,” which is seen throughout the book. He believes that the greatest enemy of oneself is oneself. As seen in the term “self-care” in recent years, there is now an ideology that we should take care of ourselves and that we are our own greatest ally. Taro Okamoto is different. It is hard to find someone who says “push yourself away” as he does. We were reminded of the line by Mutta Namba, the main character in the manga “Space Brothers”. “My enemy is always me.” We felt there is something in common.
The freshness we felt this time stimulated me once again as we entered the year 2024 and settled down a bit. Reconsidering the way of thinking. Pushing yourself away. There is no answer to the way of thinking and being. Please read the book and think about it. It may lead you to your own ism.
